Cenotaph to be covered in poppies to mark 100-year anniversary of WW1.

Preston’s Cenotaph will be decorated with poppies to mark the 100-year anniversary of the end of the First World War.

Preston City Council is working with local craft group, The Knit Wits, to decorate the Cenotaph for the period of Remembrance.

It is hoped that the decorations will provide a link between the monument and the Roll of Honour in the Harris museum.

Members of the public, schools and community groups can also get involved and crochet their own poppies, which will be added to the display.

Poppy designs can be found here.
