Emergency services were called to a pub in Penwortham last weekend after a little girl was attacked by a dog.
Lancashire Police was called to the Fleece Inn on Liverpool Road with reports that a child had been bitten by a dog.
The five-year-old child suffered facial injuries following the attack and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.
At this time it is believed that there will be no further investigation or criminal charges to take place.
A member of staff at the Fleece Inn said, ‘Our team acted quickly to call 999 when it happened and are supporting the police’s investigation with CCTV footage from the pub.
‘The pub manager has met with the family this week to pass on our best wishes, and we will continue to stay in touch with the family while she recovers.’
At this moment in time, we are unaware of how severe the injuries were but are led to believe they are not severe.
A police spokesman said, ‘Police and paramedics attended and the child – a five-year-old girl – was taken to Royal Preston Hospital to be treated for an injury to her face.’
