A severe crash in the early hours of this morning saw emergency services ‘cut free’ a man trapped and injured by the collision.
The incident took place between Preston and Blackburn on Mellor Lane, just off of the A59 at roughly 1.30 am.
Fire services from Blackburn attended the scene and set about freeing a man from his car with hydraulic tools.
A woman was also injured in the crash and was taken to hospital for further treatment, at this stage it is unknown how severe the injuries may be.
A spokesman said: “A man was trapped and injured in one car and a woman in the other car was injured but she was already out of her car when firefighters arrived at the scene.
“Firefighters used hydraulic equipment to rescue the man and both casualties were taken to hospital by ambulance. Firefighters were there for an hour-and-a-half.”
