A lorry driver was arrested yesterday after his vehicle overturned at the busy Bay Gateway earlier in the morning, police said.
Emergency services were called around 8am to the dual carriageway link road between the Heysham and Morecambe and junction 34 of the M6 motorway.
Nobody was seriously injured, and no other vehicles were involved.
A police spokesman accused the driver of testing positive for cannabis and cocaine.
An update later released by the force said access from the roundabout towards Halton Road would be closed until Monday while road repairs are done.
“Please use other routes to travel to Halton Village and Halton Army Training Camp,” it told drivers.
