Pumpkins cause train delays.

‘Ballast’ was deliberately placed on rail lines causing delays to trains running between Blackpool and Preston.

If you’re wondering what ‘ballast’ is, then here is a quick Google definition:

Last night the British Transport Police received two reports of the ballast being on rails at Layton.

They also said pumpkins were left on the track the night before, which ultimately caused long delays.

British Transport Police Lancashire tweeted, “That caused a load of delays until we were able to establish what the train had hit in the dark.”

Patrols have since been stepped up where the incidents have been happening.
