Serious flooding of the M6 has caused motorway chaos throughout the day, Highways England continues to deal with the issues.
The M6 has seen queues between Bamber Bridge and Preston due to severe flooding, and dangerous conditions caused by winds of almost 70mph.
Emergency services have continued to monitor the stretch of motorway between Junctions 28 and 31.
Drivers are being advised to take caution wherever they are driving today, and to also look up any traffic or road condition reports before taking any journeys.
A spokesman for Highways England said, ‘The lane has now reopened after our contractors drained the water away. It was just down to the sheer volume of rain we had at that location this morning in a short space of time.’
