A prison officer from Longton has appeared in court and is to be charged with having a relationship with an inmate.
Sally McGrath, who resides in Chestnut Crescent in Longton, is accused of willfully misconducting herself while working at a prison in Leyland.
It’s also alleged that she laundered money into her account, and transferred money into other accounts, conspiring to smuggle steroids into HMP Grath.
McGrath, 24, was summoned to Preston Magistrates Court and spoke only to confirm her name and address. The Prosecutor, Martine Connah, told the court that the matters were too serious for their jurisdiction. The inmate she’s accused of having a relationship with, Ashley Keany, appeared via VideoLink and is 31-years-old.
The offence allegedly took place between February and November 2017.
McGrath’s next appearance in court is expected to be Feb 12th.
