Police Arrest Two Men In Connection With Old Dog Attack

Two men have been arrested and released following an appeal on a suspected assault that happened on Church Street, Preston.

A 29-year-old man was found outside of the Old Dog Inn following what had seemed like some type of late-night incident on the 20th of December.

Police later identified the incident as a possible assault and began appealing for more information, later releasing CCTV images.

Now Preston Police have said they have arrested two men and released them both while further investigations will take place.

A statement on social media said, ‘Following an appeal we put out to trace potential witnesses to an assault in Preston, we have now identified and spoken to three people.

‘The incident occurred on December 20th, after a man aged 29 was discovered outside the Dog Inn on Church Street with a head injury.

‘Following an initial appeal for information a 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault but was released under investigation pending further enquiries.

‘A subsequent appeal to trace a man in a silver jacket resulted in a second arrest of a 22-year-old man from Preston on suspicion of assault. He has also been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

‘The victim was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he remains in a stable condition. Our enquiries are ongoing.’
