Chinese New Year is celebrated by more than 20% of the world and is the most important holiday in China.
On Saturday, many people gathered in Preston to experience Chinese culture and tradition to celebrate the year of the Pig, the 12th animal in the Chinese Zodiac.
Chinese New Year brought Preston alive with diversity, with plenty of activities appropriate for all the family including watching tradition Lion dancers, taking part in Chinese crafts and witnessing Chinese puppetry.
Visitors gathered on the flag market to watch the traditional Lion dances as a part of the celebrations.
The Harris had a packed programme of activities, including Preston People’s Choir who sang traditional Chinese moon poetry to music.
The Harris also offered many other activities including Chinese puzzles, crafts and storytelling.
Tomorrow, (12 February) The Shanghai Theatre Academy will be preforming at Preston guild Hall, bringing an exciting, colourful and traditional performance.
