Woman To Absail Guild Tower For Charity

A Preston woman is absailing down the Guild Tower and hosting a toddles class for St Catherine’s Hospice.

Laura Dewhurst, 34, lives locally in Preston and hosts regular Hartbeep’s Baby and Toddler classes, but will be hosting a special one for charity on Saturday 23rd March at Higher Walton Community Centre. The class costs £6 as a donation through her JustGiving page and all monies raised will go directly to the charity.

Laura’s also anxiously taking on the Guild Tower later this year for charity. Standing at over 200 feet high, the Guild Tower is regularly absailed down by local charity-fundraisers.

Laura told The Lancashire Post; “I’m really happy that I can use my classes to get the local community together to support such a worthy cause. “I have lost friends and family members to cancer and I know how important St Catherine’s hospice is. The last couple of years has taught me that life can change instantly and you never know when you may need that support, that’s why I signed up. “Although I am not yet feeling nervous, I am sure I will on the day when I’m on top of the 200ft building.”

St Catherine’s Hospice is a specialist provider of high quality training and education in End of Life and Palliative Care. They work with a wide range of providers, other Hospices and the education sector to raise the quality and awareness of End of Life Care wherever they can.
