Police in New Zealand has now confirmed that just one gunman was involved with a terror attack that took place last week.
Reports emerged on Friday (15th March) that two Mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, had been attacked leaving dozens of people injured or killed.
That death toll has now reached 50, with an estimated additional 50 still recovering from injuries caused by the attack.
Police Commissioner Mike Bush said during a press conference, ‘We believe that there was only one attacker responsible for this horrendous event’.
‘There were 2 scenes, as you know, again I’d like to state that we believe absolutely there was only one attacker responsible for this.’
A man has been arrested an charged with one count of murder, with more counts expected to be charged in the coming days.
New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, told the press today, ‘Within 10 days of this horrific act of terrorism we will have announced reforms which will, I believe, make our community safer’.
