Major Incident On M6 Involving Animal Transporting Unit Caused Serious Delays This Morning

A serious incident on the M6 this morning has caused serious delays, leaving motorists stuck in traffic for up to an hour.

Traffic officers were called to deal with an incident after a vehicle transporting animals was caught up in a collision near Warrington.

A Highways England spokesman tweeted, “Traffic is delayed by about 30 mins on the approach to this incident with 5.5 miles of slow moving traffic. Please allow extra time for your journey in travelling in the area.”

Traffic was stopped on the motorway while the animals were removed from the dual carriageways.

After officers safely moved the animals a tweet from Highways England stated, “There’s delays of 50 mins northbound due to this incident and about 20 mins southbound. Traffic has been released southbound but 2 lanes remain closed northbound for ongoing vehicle recovery. Please allow extra time.”
