Preston City Council have temporarily closed a part of Church Street due to an “Unsafe building”.
Temporary traffic lights and fencing was placed in between Manchester Road and Preston Minster.
Councillor Peter Moss, Cabinet Member for Planning and Regulations said; “This afternoon our Building Control team have had to urgently recommend a partial closure for a section of Church Street, following an inspection that deemed a property, and therefore its surrounding area, unsafe.
Temporary traffic controls have been installed, thanks to support from Lancashire County Council, and efforts are underway to secure the area for the weekend. The team will now proactively work with the building owner to find an appropriate solution. Public safety is, as always, our utmost priority.”
It’s currently unknown when the closure will be removed.
The unsafe building is believed to be 132 Church Street.
