Preston North End have announced that they will host a Premier League team at Deepdale this summer while continuing preparations for the upcoming season.
North End will play Southampton on the 20th July in their only announced home game of a pre-season that will also include clashes with Bamber Bridge and Chorley.
A spokesman for pnefc.net said, “It will be the first time the Lilywhites have faced Southampton in almost eight years and will pose a good test for the boys ahead of the start of the 2019/20 Championship campaign.
“The confirmation of this fixture sees the pre-season schedule almost complete, with the club looking to confirm one further friendly in due course.”
The Saints struggled last season, finishing just five points ahead of the relegation places. However, new signing Moussa Djenepo, bought from Standard Liege for £14 million, will give the club additional pace and quality going forward.
PNE’s summer pre-season tour will begin against Bamber Bridge on Saturday 6th July at 3pm.
North End’s Schedule:
