A South Ribble charity is hosting a children’s ‘Fantasy Festival’ to help families suffering from ‘Holiday Hunger’.
The issue has reached national crisis levels when many children, reliant on free school meals, end up going hungry due to spiralling food bill costs, during the holidays.
The festival, regarded as an afternoon ‘fun for all the family’, will see an appearance by Princess Elsa and other beloved characters.
There will also be face painting, rides, stalls and sing-alongs.
Instead of payment on entry, visitors are asked to donate non-perishable foods to help those in need.
The food gathered will be used to form food packages for families struggling during the upcoming summer holidays.
Gill Fowler from Gregson Green said: “We’re excited to bring the festival to life this weekend and support a great cause. We’ve a long-standing relationship with Home-Start and we’re delighted to be able to support them and in turn lots of families in South Ribble this summer.”
The Children’s Fantasy Festival takes place on Sunday 30 June at Gregson Lane Community Centre in Hoghton from 1pm to 3pm.
