Preston North End star Callum Robinson seems to be on his way out of the club after weeks of speculation.
North End announced this afternoon that a bid to sign the forward had been accepted and that Robinson was given permission to speak to the unnamed club about personal terms.
Several clubs were thought to be chasing the Republic of Ireland international, including newly promoted Norwich City who apparently had a £6m bid rejected earlier in the transfer window.
If the rumours are to be believed, Sheffield United, who also were automatically promoted to the Premier League last season, is the buying club.
A statement from the club today simply said, “Preston North End can confirm they have accepted a bid from a Premier League club for forward Callum Robinson.
“The player has been given permission to leave the team’s Irish training camp in order to discuss personal terms and undertake a medical ahead of a proposed move.
“There will be no further comment from the club at this time.”
If the ITKs (In The Know) have it right, then Robbo will be signing for the Yorkshire club for a similar fee to the one already rumoured to have been offered by the Canaries.
There is still a chance the former Aston Villa graduate will stay with the Championship club if personal terms can’t be agreed; but, it’s difficult to imagine Robinson will turn down the chance to play in the Premier League.
