A yellow warning for Preston has been issued by the Met Office, as flooding is expected to affect homes and businesses in the area.
The warning will be in place from 6pm today (August 12th) until 10am tomorrow morning.
Thunderstorms are expected to impact the South-East of the UK including London, while heavy rain will cover Preston and the surrounding area.
The Met Office has told residents to expect bus and train services to be affected, with journey times taking longer and spray and flooding on roads will also make journey times longer.
A spokesman for the Met said, “Some cloud and rain to begin, but all areas will see some bright spells into the afternoon. There will be some showers in places, which could turn heavy with a risk of thunder. Maximum temperature 18 °C.
“(Tonight) A few showers will linger into the evening, with some drier interludes. However, overnight more heavy showers are expected and they could bring downpours in places, especially in the south. Minimum temperature 6 °C.”
The rest of the week:
A few heavy showers in places to begin, but these will ease through the day. Otherwise there will be plenty of sunny spells, especially into the afternoon and evening. Maximum temperature 18 °C.
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:
Wet and windy on Wednesday, but easing later. Mainly dry on Thursday, but a few showers possible. More wet and windy weather on Friday and over the weekend.
