Preston North End Cruise To Easy 4-0 Win In EFL First Round Clash

A perfect start for Preston North End’s EFL cup run unfolded with a debut goal and well-needed minutes for the squad.

New boy Andre Green scored the opener on his debut before Barkhuizen’s brace and Josh Harrop’s deflected shot made it a 4-0 for North End.

Summer signings Green and Tom Bayliss, who became the club’s transfer record-breaker, made their first starts for the club in the clash against Bradford City.

Ryan Ledson returned to the starting XI after a number of months out with injury, while Josh Ginnelly and Jayden Stockley also picked up some important minutes.

PNE have now made it two wins from three games in all competitions, with the last two results making it 7-0 against Wigan and Bradford.

Tonight’s performance was at least, if not more impressive than the weekend’s performance, not just due to the improved scoreline, but also in the manner that Preston controlled the game throughout the 90 minutes.

The Lilywhites more than doubled their Yorkshire rival’s attempts on goal and shots on target.

Following the game, the second draw revealed that North End will be facing Hull at Deepdale.
