Provisional results from schools and colleges in Lancashire show that students have performed well and achieved some good A-level results.
Early indications are positive, with providers claiming pass rates of over 97%. The confirmed provisional results will be available in a few days.
This is an even greater achievement as the reforms to A levels applied to more subjects this year.
County Councillor Phillippa Williamson, cabinet member for children, young people and schools, said: “Once again, this year’s A-level results show that many young people in schools and colleges across Lancashire have performed very well overall.
“I’d like to congratulate all the young people who’ve been recognised for their hard work, and also the teachers who have supported them.
“I wish them all every success as they move on to the next stage of their lives, whatever they choose to do.”
Lancashire exceeded both regional and national achievements for all qualifications last year, and the early results demonstrate that standards are remaining high in schools and colleges.
Advice is also available for young people who may not have a place confirmed, or whose results aren’t as hoped for.
Young people can get support through their school or local college and can also contact Talkzone, the county council’s advice and support service. Talkzone is available for young people between the ages of 12 and 19. It can be accessed by phone, text, webtalk, email and Facebook. It is also available for any young person up to the age of 25 with a disability.
The Talkzone service is available from 2pm to 10pm each day including weekends and bank holidays.
Through Talkzone, young people can speak with trained advisers in confidence and chat through anything that is worrying them, as well as their exam results. Staff are able to talk about a wide range of issues which young people tell us they really appreciate.
Young people can call Talkzone on 0800 511 111, text on 07786 511 111, email email@example.com, access webtalk services at www.lancashire.gov.uk/youthzone/get-in-touch.aspx or www.facebook.com/LancashireYPS
