An 87-year-old woman has died following a crash on the A674 Chorley Road yesterday afternoon.
Mary Hargrave was taken to Royal Preston Hospital after she was involved in a collision between a Nissan Micra and a DAF truck, at the junction with Bury Lane.
Chorley Police said this afternoon, “The incident happened at just after 2pm yesterday (Wednesday, September 11) when a Nissan Micra was involved in a collision with a DAF truck on the A674 Chorley Road at the junction with Bury Lane.
“A passenger in the Micra, Mary Hargrave, 87, from Brinscall, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital but sadly died later.
“The driver of the Micra, an 85-year-old woman, also from Brinscall, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where they remain.”
Sgt Paul Maguire, of Tac Ops, added, “These are tragic circumstances and my thoughts are with Mary Hargrave, her family and friends at this sad time.
“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collison or who has any dashcam which may have captured the collision to get in touch with us.”
