On Saturday, we saw hundreds of canine companions enjoying a day out with their humans for a great cause down at St Catherine’s Hospice.
Open to supporters and passersby alike, the grounds of St Catherine were open to the public to celebrate man’s bestfriend whilst raising money for the hospice.
Having been popular in the past, there were great expectations of the number of visitors that would appear and thanks to the glorious weather, the people of Preston did not disappoint!
Entertained by numerous doggy themed stalls that sold treats and toys for the canine companions, the dogs looked to be throughly enjoying their day out. The humans in attendance weren’t left out, with many delicious food stalls selling a variety of specialities satiating everybody’s appetite.
The main event of the day was of course the 2 mile dog walk that anybody could participate for a £3 charge on the day, with all proceeds going towards the specialist care that St Catherine’s Hospice provide.
The atmosphere was extremely positive and friendly, with many of the guests stating how ‘it brings the dog walking community of Preston together allowing owners to meet other dog owners’ according to Tom, from Leyland who was proudly holding his black Labrador Toby after the 2 mile walk.
Suitable for dogs of all ages and breeds, the 2019 Bark in the Park was a roaring success, and will no doubt be returning next year. Keep an eye out on the St Catherine’s website for more community and fundraising events!
