UPDATE: Salford Man Arrested In Preston Teen Rape Incident

Preston Police announced on social media this morning (October 8th) that a man connected to a suspected rape has been arrested.

Appeals to find a suspect that was seen in multiple CCTV images was launched by Police after a teen was assaulted after a night out.

The victim became separated from her friends as she walked along Lancaster Road from Church Street after a night out.

A man approached her as she reached the junction with Harris Street at the side of Sessions House.

The teen was then allegedly sexually assaulted on a grassed area on Lord Street.

A Preston Police spokesman said, “Following our appeals relating to the rape of an 18-year-old woman in Preston on Sunday, September 22nd, we have now arrested a man.

“The 35-year-old from Salford was arrested on suspicion of rape in the Broughton area of Manchester this morning (Tuesday, October 8th) and remains in police custody.

“Thanks to everyone who shared and responded to our appeals, your information has assisted us in making this arrest.”
