A group of 10-year-old students spoke to drivers breaking the speed limit on Blackpool Road, as part of a police demonstration.
Preston’s Neighbourhood Policing Team spent the afternoon speaking with Year 6 children from St Andrew’s Church of England Primary School
The team primarily spoke about the dangers of road safety, especially during the winter when the early evenings become darker.
A Preston Police spokesman said, “Today, Preston Neighbourhood Policing Team have spoken with the children at St Andrew’s C of E Primary School about road safety.
“We conducted an assembly and spoke to the children about the importance of crossing the road safely and making themselves seen with the darker evenings drawing in.
“We then took the year 6 children out in groups and stopped cars driving in excess of 30mph on Blackpool Road outside of the school.
“This gave the opportunity for the children to speak with the drivers about the consequences of their actions.
“This was a very effective exercise with many of the drivers apologising and saying they will think twice driving past schools in the future.”
