‘Morning Frost Creates An Opportunity For Car Thieves’, According To Police

Lancashire Police have released their tips to keep motorists safe during the icy, winter period.

With temperatures now regularly dropping below freezing point overnight, drivers are waking up to frosty windshields and icy roads.

The Met Office is predicting that the minimum temperature for tonight in Preston could drop to -2°C, while they also have forecast that heavy rain will cover the region next week.

Obviously, in these conditions, it is important to allow for more time for your morning journeys and to defrost vehicle windshields.

Lancashire Police are also warning motorists that this time of your presents an opportunity for thieves.

A spokesman said, “With the winter period upon us, we would like to take the opportunity to remind you to be extra cautious when de-icing your vehicles on frosty mornings and evenings.

“It takes just a matter of seconds for you to become the target of an opportunist thief. No matter how tempting it is, never leave your vehicle unattended with the key in the ignition. Think twice – is it really worth the risk?”
