A frustrated Preston resident has started an online petition against the bad traffic congestion in the Eastway and Fulwood areas.
Josie Hastings has created a change.org petition for the residents who’s journey times have vastly increased in recent years.
Josie blames the changes to the landscape of the area, specifically in the last 5 years.
She has lived in Fulwood for ten years and claims that the building of new houses on Eastway, a new retail park and a new Lidl supermarket is the cause of the increased congestion.
According to Josie, what should be a 6-minute journey can take anywhere between 30 minutes to 1.5 hrs.
The Petition is aimed at Lancashire County Council and Ben Wallace MP, who she did contact but to no avail.
She received no reply from Lancashire County Council’s highways department and local MP, Ben Wallace claimed that he expects a new link road between James Tower Way and Eastway will alleviate the traffic congestion.
Josie disagrees with this statement claiming “A connecting road between James Tower Way and Eastway will not alleviate traffic but will increase traffic in the Eastway area.
“A new Lidl supermarket and the extension of Fulwood Central retail park is due to open in 2020 and will add to the current problems.”
