National technology company Philips has donated a TV to the Lancashire Teaching Hospital for use in the children’s ward.
The donation will help to improve patient care, as it is used as part of the ‘distraction therapy’ for patients.
Items like the donated television provide ‘distraction therapy’ for patients, helping to take their minds off being unwell and providing a great aid to recovery.
Headed up by the fundraising team, the ward has already received toys, books, toiletries and an abundance of decorations to help patients feel more at home over the festive period.
Tracy Barrow, Sales Manager at Philips Professional Display Solutions, said, “We hope our donation goes some way to making hospital stays that little bit better for young patients at Royal Preston Hospital.
“We are delighted to have been able to give this gift, as with Christmas coming up, there will be plenty of festive films on offer for patients to enjoy!”
Paula Wilson, Head of Fundraising and Charity Governance at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, added, “We are so grateful to Tracy and the team at Phillips for donating this TV to our children’s ward.
“This will make a huge difference for children who have to stay in hospital, which can be a very distressing time for them, and this will help enormously!”
