A man was arrested in Chorley town centre yesterday afternoon, after being found with a seven-inch blade.
Police from the Chorley Task Force conducted a stop and search yesterday, which led them to finding the intimidating knife.
In the UK it is illegal to carry a knife in public without good reason, unless it has a folding blade with a cutting edge 3 inches long or less.
‘Good reason’ for having a knife can include; taking knives you use at work, transporting a knife for display at an exhibit, or to be used for a demonstration such as a self-defence class.
Following the arrest of the male carrying the weapon, a Chorley Police spokesman said, “Officers from the Chorley Task Force, carried out a pro-active stop and search of a male in Chorley town centre, this afternoon.
“During the search this Knife was recovered and the male was swiftly arrested as a result. Positive use of Stop and Search powers have taken a dangerous weapon off the streets of Chorley.”
