Andrew Wilkinson is inviting people to join him on a 10-mile walk, stopping by at 10 pubs along the way.
All money raised will be donated to CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) to honour Andrew’s friend Simon Sharples who tragically took his own life.
“My best friend Simon took his own life in December 2014. His family started doing fundraising for CALM the following year, so I decided to do my event in spring 2016 and have carried on ever since.
“It is getting more popular year after year and everyone has a fantastic time. We had about 120 people doing it last year which was great.”
Andrew raised £600 on the first year doing the 10-10 walk, then managed £1500 the next year and just over £2000 last year. He has set £1500 as the target for this year.
The walk starts and ends at the Anchor in Hutton and goes through Much Hoole, New Longton & Longton along the way.
Anyone wanting to join shouldn’t be concerned about not being able to finish,
“Everybody makes the course as it isn’t too strenuous, and most are well watered, Just a good-spirited easy day.”
Cameron Porter has joined in on previous years of the 10-10 walk and encourages anyone to come along,
“This will be my third 10-10, It’s a fantastic day out surrounded by great people to support a very important cause.”
CALM is a campaign against male suicide, they offer support to anyone suffering with their free helpline and look to raise awareness and encourage men to speak out.
This year’s 10-10 walk will be on Saturday 18th April, anyone wanting to join in can do so by donating an entry fee, leave your full name and email on Andrew’s Justgiving page here.
