David Parr will be competing in a charity boxing match to raise money for the cancer charity.
He is signed up for Ultra White Collar Boxing which sees people with no boxing experience get to test their skills after being trained by professionals.
The Preston lad is partway through his 8 weeks of training right now in the lead up to his fight on 4th April.
He is glad to be able to make a difference and support Cancer Research,
“I wanted to do this because I’ve seen friends battle with cancer and the heartache it causes to their family,
“Just knowing that I can help a little makes me want to do this even more and make my family proud at the same time.”
David has no history of fighting but is motivated as it is for a good cause,
“I was browsing Facebook and came across ultra white collar boxing, I instantly knew I wanted to do this and it’s for such a good cause,
“I’ll admit I was a little scared to sign up as I’ve never really liked fighting, this is something well and truly out of my comfort zone but I’m all in for the challenge.”
He admits that facing an opponent in the ring is a scary prospect but is ready for it,
“I’m definitely feeling nervous about it, nobody likes to be punched but I’m confident at the same time,
“I’m definitely excited for the moment my song plays and I walk out and see my family and friends get to together to support me.”
Friends and family of the fighters are welcomed to watch the fights at a black-tie event which is at the Evoque Nightclub on Church Street on Saturday 4th April from 2:30 pm
