Lancashire’s Home Library service has been suspended until further notice due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
The County Council announced this morning that they had hoped the service could continue to be provided after libraries in the area were forced to close on Monday.
Unfortunately, due to the reliance of people attending homes, the Government has recommended the service be suspended.
A Lancashire County Council spokesman said today:
“Lancashire County Council’s home library service has been suspended until further notice due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
“It had been hoped that the service, which allows books to be delivered to people in their homes, could continue but the council has made the decision to suspend the service following national advice to limit contact between people.
“The authority is currently working closely with the Lancashire Volunteer Partnership to provide replacement telephone befriending support for home library service customers.”
