Lancashire firefighters have raised £5,000 for fire services who bravely battled the Australian bush fires earlier this year!
A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said:
“Back in January firefighters from Lytham and nearby stations walked 11 miles for the 11 firefighters who lost their lives in the Australian bush fires.
“Due to the coronavirus it’s taken some time to get this finalised but we’re pleased to have finally been able to send just under £5k to the @nswrfs from all the donations you lovely lot gave us on that wet walk!
“A kind firefighter ‘Hoppo’ sent us one of his old fire tunics as a momento for us and the crew are looking forward to displaying it in the station. Since the bush fires the Aussie firefighters have gone on to deal with flooding and after looking at their Instagram recently…snow!
“They’ve had a turbulent year but hopefully the money we’ve sent will be able to help in some small way. Thanks everybody!”
