Preston Police are launching an investigation and are appealing for information after a local resident acted “extremely dangerously”.
On Thursday evening (10th), a laser was shone at a Police helicopter circling over the Preston sky. The National Police Air Service was searching for wanted criminals and high-risk people.
During the helicopter’s time in the sky, a laser was shone by a resident in the Ribbleton area.
PC Hargreaves labelled the act as “extremely dangerous”. He said: “Shining a laser at an aircraft is extremely dangerous.
“It can cause the crew to be disoriented, which can have disastrous consequences.
“We want to make it clear that this should not be done for any reason and there are serious consequences for such behaviour.
“NPAS is an expensive but invaluable resource in policing and therefore positive action will always be taken in these scenarios.”
Anyone with any information on the incident can contact police on 101.
