Chaos As 6 People Rescued From Large Fire In Avenham

Lancashire Fire and Rescue dramatically rescued 6 people at the crack of dawn yesterday following a large fire at a flat in Avenham.

The incident happened on Friday 2nd October and involved fire crews being called out to a property on Duke Street at 4.30am.

Officers arrived on the scene to see that a fire had spread throughout a residential building and a first floor flat was alight.

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus to rescue people, including 3 adults, 3 children and a dog. A ladder was used to rescue the dog.

Casualties were checked over by paramedics on the scene of the incident for smoke inhalation, and three were taken to the hospital for further treatment.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
