Lancashire will remain in tier two of the Government’s COVID alert system, despite concerns that the County would face more restrictions.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock confirmed in an address to the House of Commons that no further decisions on increasing restrictions have been made.
Reacting to the news Leader of the Preston City Council, Matthew Brown, tweeted:
“Really disappointing lack of engagement from the government this morning.
“We have put effective public health interventions to them for weeks and are on the verge of an ineffective solution imposed that as it stands won’t protect health and damages the local economy.”
Should the County enter tier three, bars and restaurants will be forced to shut.
