8-year-old Daisy will be learning a song by her favourite band and will be performing it to raise money for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity.
Daisy’s mum, Gemma Cheetham, who works for Lancs Teaching Hospital, helped her come up with the idea of a sponsored sing because of her love for the band ‘Little Mix’:
“I am beyond proud of her. She loves Little Mix and loves singing. She had just got Little Mix’s new album so she chose a song that she felt the words could be dedicated to NHS staff. She set herself a 2-week goal to learn the words. On 30th November I will film her singing it and post it on social media.
“Her initial idea was somewhat different, she came to me with a sign she had made which read “please donate £1 to the NHS” and she literally wanted to knock on doors asking people for donations. After some discussion, I said it would be better to do something whereby people could sponsor her.”
The young girl was inspired after talking to her mum about the NHS and the COVID-19 Pandemic to try and raise some money to help them out:
“She came to me and said ‘Mummy, can I raise some money for your hospital because they are making a lot of sacrifices to protect us and I thought that they need a bit more money, not only to pay the workers but to keep others and themselves safe’.
Daisy has smashed her initial fundraising target of £100, at the time of writing, she has raised £400 for Lancs Teaching Hospital:
“As I work for lancs Teaching hospitals we contacted them to advise Daisy would be raising money for their charity. She has since received a T-shirt from them to wear on the day and a letter of thanks.
“Her initial target was set at £100 at 5 pm Monday 16th November. By 6 pm she had raised £105. We have increased the target as the week has gone on due to the amount of money received. She is on cloud 9! As said I am super proud. Yesterday I gave her (and her brother) £5 each as a treat for good behaviour, Daisy’s response was “please can I donate it to my just giving page”
