A Preston Prison inmate has claimed there have been over 50 new COVID cases in just one week within HMP Preston.
According to official figures, the prison has seen 241 cases of Coronavirus between March 2020 and January 2021.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice told the Post: “Our priority is to limit the spread of the virus and protect the lives of those who live and work in our prisons.
“We have taken precautionary measures at HMP Preston in line with public health guidance, and will continue to closely monitor the situation.”
Back in the summer of 2019 the prison was heavily criticised for overcrowding and has since received a number of complaints over conditions inmates are housed in.
