Lancashire Volunteer Partnership Host Week Of Celebration To Say Thank You

For National Volunteers Week, LVP is hosting a week of virtual celebrations for volunteers and community groups to thank them for their contribution.

From 1st till 7th June, Lancashire Volunteer Partnership and Our Lancashire have teamed up to say thank you by putting on a week of events including a virtual garden party, an online quiz, mindfulness sessions, and much more.

Julie Sumner, Manager at Lancashire Volunteer Partnership, expressed how important the contribution of volunteers has been during the pandemic:

“We are celebrating National Volunteers’ Week because it’s an excellent opportunity to recognise and celebrate our volunteer’s commitment and hard work, particularly over the last year during the pandemic.

“They have played a huge part in helping our communities cope with the consequences of coronavirus.”

LVP and Our Lancashire’s support services have volunteers that have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to help those in need.

Ever since a Covid-19 vaccine was first announced in November 2020, LVP has recruited an army of over 1,500 Covid Vaccination Centre Marshals across Lancashire and South Cumbria to provide critical support in the vaccination centres.

Dr David Waide, a GP at the Ryan Medical Centre, Bamber Bridge, commented: “The volunteers are wonderful – I can’t praise them enough for their efforts.”

Lancashire Constabulary Chief Constable, Chris Abbott commented:

“We are very proud of the work our volunteers do for our local communities and the partnerships we have across Lancashire.

“Protecting the vulnerable is a key priority for the police and we wouldn’t be able to do it without the valuable support of everyone who is involved in our Cadets, Special Constabulary and Lancashire Volunteer Partnership, particularly around Covid-19, which has been a challenging time for everyone.”

Sergent Steve Ibbotson, Special Constabulary Co-ordinator commented: “A big thank you to our Special Constables for their continued support in helping keep the people in our communities feeling safe.

“Policing has faced many different challenges over the past twelve months and your efforts and contributions have been exceptional during these times. We really do appreciate you.”
