The AgeUK Lancashire’s annual Break Out event finished on a massive high yesterday with the team at Taylors Estates reaching their target goal of raising £1,000 for the Lancashire-based charity.
The Break Out event is an annual opportunity to raise much-needed funds for the charity with local business owners taking part by being locked in a room for a day, with supporters donating online to reach their target goal.
This year’s event was hosted by the Marriott Hotel, supporting AgeUK by providing a room for the event and regular refreshments throughout the day.
Lisa Edge from Lancashare and Stuart Lee from Genesis IT were among those taking part, alongside Richard Taylor from Taylors Estates.
Richard said after the event; “It’s great to have achieved our target goal of £1,000 for a well-deserved cause. AgeUK helped out many people during the pandemic by supplying laptop and tablet devices to prevent them from being left behind.”
“The day itself was great and I enjoyed connecting with local business owners and raising well-deserved funds for a great charity.”
David Ward, from Age UK Lancashire, said: “We are delighted that we were able to put this event on during a challenging time for our fundraising team. The participants who took part were brilliant and so enthusiastic all day.”
“This event was so important for not only Age UK Lancashire but also the businesses involved as it was one of the first opportunities they have had to get out and talk face to face.
“That created a good atmosphere, and they were encouraging each other to get donations in, and it ended up getting very competitive!”
