16 year old, Uwais Patel, from Preston, has been appointed a hospital appointment to complete his half-finished braces almost 2 years from the date he received his letter from the Lancashire Teaching Hospital.
The hospital trust has stated every aspect of the NHS has a backlog of patients waiting for treatment due to the pressures brought on by the pandemic.
The appointment is for his orthodontics treatment following extractions needed to fit the brace. Uwais shared a photograph of the letter to Twitter, captioning it “I didn’t know the NHS were that underfunded”.
A Lancashire Teaching Hospitals spokesperson said: “Alongside every NHS trust we are working hard to address the backlog of patients waiting for treatment, exacerbated by the impacts of the pandemic, ensuring those who need care the most are seen as a priority.”
